Bryce R. Reece joined the Wyoming Wool Growers Association as Executive Director in December of 1993. Mr. Reece is the third generation from his family to be actively involved in Wyoming agriculture. He has been deeply involved in the sheep industry in his current position for the last 10 years. Prior to that, he was the manager of the Wyoming Lamb Marketing Project, a project funded by the Wyoming State Legislature and conducted by the Wyoming Wool Growers Association in conjunction with Southdown Meats in Pennsylvania. The projects purpose was to evaluate and assess the potential for slaughter, processing and fabrication of high quality lambs in Wyoming that were destined for distribution to leading retailers on the East Coast. He was involved in all aspects of the business venture as the project manager.

Mr. Reece was instrumental in the conceptualization and formation of the Mountain States Lamb Cooperative and served on the initial Board of Directors as Secretary/Treasurer. He also served as one of four MSLC Executive Committee members for over two years.

He has extensive legislative experience at both the state and national level. Working with the Wyoming legislature, he aided in the development and passage of several important pieces of legislation including the Wyoming “value added” cooperative law, passed in 2001 and cited at the time as the most progressive and innovative law of it’s kind in the nation. Other legislative initiatives he has been directly and intimately involved in include: creation of the Wyoming Animal Damage Management Board, creation of the Wyoming Livestock/Wildlife Research Initiative, the Wyoming “Country-of-Origin” labeling law and development and passage of the statute to allow the State of Wyoming to manage wolves imported into Wyoming by the federal government, heralded by many as the most important law of it’s type in the country.

Mr. Reece is a graduate of Riverton (WY) High School and the University of Wyoming. His educational background is in animal science with a graduate focus in reproductive physiology. He has a background in animal breeding and genetics and has been involved in a reproduction management company that utilized ultrasound technology for pregnancy diagnosis in sheep as well as scanning of rib eyes for ram selection. He is also a trained embryo transfer technician. Additionally, he owned and operated two retail businesses prior to joining the WWGA.

Mr. Reece is a graduate of the Wyoming Leadership and Education Agriculture Program (L.E.A.D) Class IV. He also served as the President of the Associated Executives of the American Sheep Industry Association.

While he misses deeply a rural lifestyle, his service to the lamb and wool industry allows him opportunity to return to his “roots” periodically. Most importantly to Mr. Reece are his wife Barbara and their children Ashlee and Grant. They reside in Casper, WY.
